How to Choose the Right Wallpaper

Choosing wallpaper is one of the most decisive choices in setting the overall mood of a room. A wrong choice can cost you both aesthetically and financially.

1. Mind the Room Size

In small rooms, large-patterned papers make the space feel tighter. Vertical stripes increase the sense of ceiling height. In large rooms, dark colours and big motifs can be used with confidence.

2. Question Moisture and Heat Resistance

For damp areas such as bathrooms and kitchens, vinyl-based, washable wallpapers should be preferred. Paper-based products are sufficient for ordinary rooms.

3. Weight per Square Metre

Quality wallpapers are usually between 180 and 220 g/m². Lighter products tear easily and cause colour bleed-through problems.

4. Pattern Repeat

Papers with a large pattern repeat generate more waste. A 64 cm repeat is ideal for high-ceilinged rooms but increases cost in standard rooms.

5. Lightfastness

For sunlit rooms, choose UV-resistant, fade-proof papers. The higher the lightfastness value, the longer the paper stays vivid.

6. Adhesive Compatibility

Not every paper type uses the same adhesive. Standard starch-based paste is enough for smooth, lightweight papers; textured and heavy papers require special dispersion adhesives.

Even the finest paper leads to bubbles, misaligned seams and pattern mismatch when applied incorrectly. Professional application prevents mistakes that can multiply the material cost.
