Care and Repair of Wooden Surfaces
Wood Care Guide
Wood is among the home's warmest, most natural materials; however, it wears quickly when not cared for correctly. With simple care techniques, the life of wooden surfaces can be extended by decades.
Routine Cleaning
Wiping with a lightly damp microfibre cloth is the safest way to keep wood clean. Excess water causes the wood to swell and change colour.
Scratch Repair
For small scratches, walnut or colour-matched marker pens can be used. Walnut oil is also a classic method for hiding wood colour.
Wax Application
Applying wax at least once a year nourishes the wood, prevents moisture transfer and adds shine.
Deep Scratches
For deep scratches, a professional repair with wood filler, sandpaper and a matching lacquer is needed. On wooden floors, more extensive intervention with local sanding and lacquer is essential.
