Decoration Strategies for High-Ceilinged Rooms
Design in High-Ceilinged Rooms
Although a ceiling higher than 3 metres is a privilege for many homes, the room can feel cold and disconnected when the right furniture and colour proportions are not used.
Horizontal Bands and Colours
Making the lower part of the wall dark and the upper part light (the dado rail technique) lowers the visual ceiling height. This approach creates warmth especially in very tall living rooms.
Large-Pattern Papers
Large-pattern wallpapers look proportional in high ceilings. Big motifs that seem exaggerated in standard rooms fit perfectly in tall spaces.
Long Curtains
Curtains should extend from floor to ceiling and rich fabric should be preferred. Short or narrow curtains make a tall space look even colder.
Dark Ceiling Application
Painting the ceiling a dark colour is one of the boldest but most striking strategies. A navy or anthracite ceiling wraps the room in an enclosing way.
