What Is a Feature Wall?

A feature wall is when only one of the four walls in a room is covered with wallpaper or a different material to be specifically emphasised. This approach is advantageous both economically and aesthetically.

Which Wall to Choose?

The wall that first catches the eye on entering the room, or that is the focal point, is ideal for a feature wall. The headboard wall in bedrooms, the TV wall in living rooms or the area behind the sofa are the most common choices.

Pattern Selection

Since the other three walls are left plain (painted or with plain paper), bold patterns, bright colours or large motifs can be used with confidence on the feature wall. When choosing a pattern, its harmony with the furniture colours must be considered.

Application Techniques

In a feature wall application it is critical that the wall is perfectly flat. The smallest bump or dip shows clearly with large patterns. Particular attention must be paid to wall preparation.

Cost Advantage

Applying to a single wall instead of the whole room significantly reduces both material and labour costs. It is the smartest way to use special or luxury wallpapers on a budget.
