The Importance of Surface Cleaning

The preparation stage is the invisible but most decisive step of a paint job. Paint applied over a dirty, greasy or damp surface has an adhesion problem and peels off in a short time.

Dust and Dirt: Wiping with a wet sponge is enough. For very heavy dirt, a mild detergent solution is used.

Grease and Oil: For areas such as the kitchen, wiping with an acetone or thinner-based cleaner is essential.

Moisture: Paint must never be applied to a surface containing moisture. The moisture level should be allowed to drop below 15%, and dried with heat if necessary.
