Choosing Ceramic and Tile in Decoration
Ceramic and Tile Selection Guide
Although the terms tile and ceramic are sometimes confused, technical differences exist between them. Porcelain ceramics are denser and far more resistant to water; for this reason they are preferred in floor applications.
PEI Abrasion Class: Indicates the abrasion resistance of floor ceramic. PEI 3 is recommended at home and PEI 4–5 in commercial areas.
Slip Resistance (R-value): R11+ products are safe for the bathroom floor. R9 or lower smooth surfaces are prone to slipping in wet environments.
