Renovation Permit Requirements

In Türkiye all structural changes are subject to a municipal permit. Changes made without a permit can lead to fines, a work-stoppage order and a demolition decision.

Work That Requires a Permit: Changing a load-bearing wall, facade alteration, enclosing a terrace, adding a storey, creating a basement or attic floor, and partitioning contrary to the licence.

Work That Does Not Require a Permit: Interior paint, floor change, non-structural drywall partition, fitting renewal.

The Safe Route: Consulting the municipality before any intervention prevents problems that may arise later.
