Why Do Paint Thickness and Coverage Matter?
Paint Thickness and Coverage
Paint thickness (dry film thickness / DFT) is decisive for both aesthetics and protection. Reaching the recommended DFT value specified by the manufacturer directly affects paint performance.
Coverage, meanwhile, is the paint's capacity to hide the surface beneath it in one or two coats. High-coverage paint provides a cost advantage; it reduces the need for a primer.
Quality paint certification documents specify the coverage class (Class 1–4) and the coverage rate (m²/L). Evaluate these values in your purchasing decision.
