Wall damp is a common problem affecting a significant portion of homes in Istanbul. For a lasting solution, the source of the moisture must first be identified, then appropriate repair and protection methods applied.

Sources of Damp

• Lack of facade insulation
• Roof or terrace water leakage
• Condensation (hot-cold air difference)

Solution Steps

The mouldy surface is cleaned with bleach (1% sodium hypochlorite). The surface is fully dried. An antifungal primer is applied. It is painted with a moisture-preventing nano-technology paint.

Permanent Solution

Surface paint is a temporary solution. For a lasting result, thermal insulation on the facade, roof waterproofing or a reactive waterproof coating system on the interior surface must be applied.
