Decorative Wall Moulding

Panelled wall effects with mouldings for living rooms, bedrooms and hallways. Measuring, layout, fitting, filling and painting included. Free survey across Istanbul.

What Decides the Price of Wall Moulding?

Pricing is based not on square metres but on the linear metres of moulding that go on the wall. So the deciding factor is not how big the wall is but how many panels you want: on the same wall, four large panels and twelve small ones can differ in cost by a factor of two. Four things drive the price:

  • Number of panels and profile width — the denser the pattern, the more linear metres
  • Profile type — MDF, polyurethane or PVC
  • Condition of the wall — an uneven surface has to be levelled first
  • Paint — mouldings arrive unfinished; the quote states clearly whether painting is included

At the survey we measure the wall and draw the panel layout; only then can we give a firm price. Estimates quoted over the phone are usually misleading.

How the Work Proceeds

We measure and draw the panel layout, and cutting begins once you approve it. Fitting, filling, sanding and painting follow in order; because the joints are closed, the moulding and wall read as one surface. A single wall takes two days including paint, and a whole room 3-4 days.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does wall moulding cost per square metre?

It is priced by the linear metres of moulding, not by square metre. On the same wall, four panels versus twelve can double the cost. After measuring and drawing the panel layout at the survey, we give an itemised written price.

Do the mouldings come pre-painted?

No, MDF and polyurethane mouldings arrive unfinished. After fitting, the joints are filled and sanded and the moulding is painted together with the wall. The quote states clearly whether paint is included.

How long does it take?

A single wall takes two days including paint, and a whole room 3-4 days. Add a day if the wall needs levelling. We give exact days after the survey.

My ceiling is low — which pattern suits?

A vertical-line pattern makes the ceiling look higher. Horizontal panels widen a room but can feel heavy under a low ceiling. We advise based on your room dimensions at the survey.

My wall is not flat — is that a problem?

On an uneven wall a gap forms behind the moulding and the joints open up later. So we level with plaster first where needed, and show that item separately in the quote.

Can it be done in a bathroom or kitchen?

Yes, using polyurethane mouldings there. They are unaffected by moisture and will not swell or blister. We do not recommend MDF in wet areas.

Can it be removed if I am renting?

It can, but removal calls for filling, sanding and repainting. In rented flats we suggest lighter PVC mouldings.

Can decorative paint go over the moulding?

Yes. Finishes such as Marmorino or concrete effect gain depth from the shadow the moulding creates. We apply both together.

Do you cover every district of Istanbul?

Yes, both the European and Anatolian sides. Our showroom is at Sunflower AVM in Esenyurt and the survey is free.

Which moulding width should I choose?

A general rule: below a 2.6 m ceiling use slim mouldings (2-4 cm); with high ceilings you can go up to 5-8 cm. Heavy mouldings overwhelm a small room. We advise once we see the dimensions.

How wide should the gaps between panels be?

There is no fixed rule; we set the proportion against the length of the wall. Equal gaps matter more than equal panel sizes — the eye reads symmetry from the spaces.

Should sockets sit inside the panels?

Preferably outside the panel, or centred within it; a socket landing on an edge spoils the order. We draw the layout accordingly and can relocate a socket if needed.

Can moulding be fitted to plasterboard?

Yes. On plasterboard, adhesive alone is enough and pins are not needed. For heavy profiles we align to the stud lines.

How long does it last — will it crack?

Fitted correctly it gives no trouble for years. Joint cracking usually comes from temperature and humidity movement, so we use flexible filler rather than rigid filler and suggest polyurethane on walls backing onto the exterior.

Moulding or wallpaper — which suits better?

At a similar budget, moulding lasts longer and does not wear; wallpaper offers more pattern choice and quicker change. We also combine them on the same wall: paper inside the panels, moulding around them.
