Can Italian Paint Be Repaired Later?

Can Italian Paint Be Repaired Later?

Yes, it can be repaired, but a patch usually shows. Because the texture is made by hand, it is hard to make a small area match its surroundings exactly; the cleanest result is to redo the damaged wall from corner to corner.

The fix depends on the damage

  • Surface scratch: usually disappears when the protective coat or wax is renewed.
  • Chipped corner or knock: the area is filled and textured with the same product; on coarse textures little trace remains.
  • Stain: cleaning is tried first; if it has soaked in, a local coat is applied.
  • Water damage and blistering: the source of the damp is dealt with first, then the whole wall is redone.

Which technique is easier to repair?

Textured, matt surfaces such as travertine and coarse plaster hide a touch-up. On glossy marmorino and Venetian plaster the join shows in the light.

Three steps that make repair easier

  1. Note the colour code and the product name.
  2. Keep a small container of leftover material.
  3. Do not throw away the approved sample board.

Can something else be put over it?

Yes. With a suitable primer a decorative finish can be changed to plain paint or another technique; deep textures are filled first. For repair and renewal you can ask Erdağ Yapı for a survey.
