Italian Decorative Paint: Craft, Not Just a Product
Three things decide the result in Italian decorative paint: the quality of the material, the flatness of the surface beneath it, and the experience of the hand holding the trowel. The third is usually the most decisive. Two different craftsmen can produce two completely different walls from the same tub, which is why we finish large surfaces in one continuous session with a single team.
Which Technique, Where
Marmorino and Veneziano are the classic lime-based finishes that give depth to living rooms and bedrooms; we used them on a bedroom wall in Akatlar and in apartments in Bahçeşehir. Travertino and distressed finishes sit naturally in spaces with stone and timber. Concrete effect and micro-cement speak the language of offices, clinics and loft-type spaces; that is the direction we took on office walls in Ataşehir and on the clinic projects in Nişantaşı.
Colour Is Chosen on the Wall, Not in a Catalogue
A textured surface changes with the angle of the light; the same wall looks different in the morning and the evening. So we prepare the sample on the wall itself, leave it in place for 24 hours and look at it together at different times of day. That one-day step removes the risk of redoing an entire wall.
On Durability
In lime-based systems the pigment runs through the body of the material, so even a scratched surface shows the same colour. In ordinary paint the colour sits in a thin film and every scratch leaves a mark. Lime also breathes, giving natural resistance to mould in humid rooms.
