How Long Does an Office Renovation Affect Staff?

In Erdağ Yapı projects small refurbishments take a few days and a full-floor renovation 2 to 4 weeks. The time staff are actually affected is shorter, because noisy and dusty work can be moved to evenings and weekends.

Which job affects staff, and how much?

• Painting and wallcoverings: done room by room; the cleared area is handed back quickly.
• New flooring: desks have to be moved; it is the job best suited to a weekend.
• Partitions and suspended ceilings: they make dust and noise; the area is sealed off with sheeting.
• Power and data: short outages occur, and their times are announced in advance.

Three ways to reduce the impact

1. Phased renovation: the floor is split into sections and teams move to a temporary area in turn.
2. Out-of-hours work: demolition and sanding are done in the evenings and at weekends.
3. Remote working: staff work from home on the busiest days.

Is clearing the floor completely faster?

Yes. On an empty floor the trades work at the same time and the job runs without interruption. If you can relocate, the total time is shorter.
