Why Is Textile Wallcovering Used in Hotels and Restaurants?

Hotels and restaurants choose textile wallcovering for three reasons: it gives the space a warm, refined atmosphere, it softens echo, and it stays presentable for longer than a painted wall.

Atmosphere and brand image

The first thing a guest notices on entering a room is the texture of the walls. A fabric surface softens the light; with the same furniture the room looks more expensive and calmer than with painted walls.

Acoustic comfort

Hard, bare walls reflect sound, and in a busy restaurant conversation becomes difficult. A fabric surface absorbs part of the echo. It is not sound insulation on its own, but together with curtains, carpet and ceiling solutions it makes a difference.

Durability and running costs

A painted wall soon shows marks from suitcases and chairs and needs repainting often. With a wallcovering a damaged strip can be replaced on its own, so the room is back on sale quickly.

Fire safety

In commercial premises the fire classification of the wallcovering must be documented. Ask for the classification certificate when choosing a product; contract collections are made with this requirement in mind.

Is textile used in corridors and lobbies too?

In heavily used areas fabric-effect vinyl or paintable glass textile is the better choice; real textile belongs in rooms, suites and private dining rooms. You can see Erdağ Yapı's hotel and restaurant work on the completed projects page.
