In What Order Should a Full Home Renovation Be Done?
A full home renovation moves from rough to fine and from top to bottom: it starts with strip-out and services and ends with flooring and the final coat of paint. If the order is broken, finished work has to be done again.
The order of work in ten steps
- Survey, plan and written quote
- Strip-out and demolition; removal of rubble
- Water, waste and electrical services
- Plaster and screed repairs, plasterboard partitions and suspended ceilings
- Waterproofing and tiling in wet rooms
- Windows and door frames
- Filler, primer and first coat of paint
- Kitchen and bathroom units, sanitaryware
- Flooring and skirting
- Final coat, wallpaper, sockets and fittings, cleaning
The logic of the order
Everything that goes inside a wall is finished before the wall is closed. Wet trades come before dry trades, dusty work before clean surfaces. The ceiling is finished before the walls, the walls before the floor.
Which jobs run at the same time?
Electrical and plumbing work can run on the same days, plasterboard and tiling in different rooms together. Units are ordered on day one, so their production time runs alongside the renovation.
Can load-bearing walls be touched?
No. Columns, beams and load-bearing walls are not altered; a change of layout needs an engineer's opinion and the necessary permits first. Erdağ Yapı runs this sequence with a single team in its turnkey projects.
