Why Does a Washable Wall Covering Matter in Restaurants?
Because a restaurant wall meets cooking vapour, food splashes and hands every day, and a surface that cannot be wiped soon looks dirty. Guests read cleanliness first from the wall and the table.
Three things a washable covering gives you
- Impression of hygiene: a spotless wall suggests that the kitchen is clean too.
- Low upkeep: the wall is wiped rather than repainted, so it lasts longer between refurbishments.
- Uninterrupted trading: cleaning is done after closing and the dining room is not shut.
Which coverings are washable?
- Vinyl-surfaced wallpaper with two or three waves on the label
- Washable paint over glass textile
- Decorative paint with a protective final coat
- Tiles, glass and laminate panels
Which surfaces are not suitable for a restaurant?
Real textile and paper-faced wallpapers, unprotected lime-based finishes and matt ceiling paint absorb stains at table height. They can be used on upper parts that hands do not reach.
Correct cleaning
A soft cloth and neutral detergent are enough. Degreasers and abrasive products thin the protective layer; try a new product first in a corner that is out of sight.
Does the whole wall need to be washable?
The part up to table and chair height is enough; a more decorative surface can be used above. In café and restaurant renovations, Erdağ Yapı recommends materials on this basis.
